PROFILE
Kate had an outstanding inaugural AFLW season, after debuting in round one she went on to become the leading goal scorer for Brisbane Lions and was nominated for goal of the year and selected in the AFLW All-Australian Team 2017. Kate also went down in sporting history for being the first athlete, male or female, to play professional AFL with a pace maker.
Kate has only been playing AFL for 2 years after code swapping from touch football, where she represented Australia. She has also played for Queensland in cricket and ran the 100m and 200m at the Pan Pacific Youth Games.
Outside of football Kate teaches HPC and Mathematics and is also an ambassador for the Heart Foundation, an organisation which played a vital role in the invention of the first ever pacemaker. Kate enjoys helping other young people with heart disease or heart conditions to overcome barriers they may face as a result of their condition.
